Abstract

Development of an Academic Curriculum for a University Commercial Music Ensemble is a fifteen week curriculum plan for a university level commercial music ensemble. The project provides a simple yet creative way to aid a music department in expanding toward commercial music ensembles by applying pedagogy and best practices used by more traditional ensembles. This research gives definition, curriculum components and how the standards of the National Association for Music Educators are met for ensembles.
