Exploring the 1890 land-grant institutions and school based agricultural education: A phenomenological study
Abstract
This study sought to explore the existing relationship between the 1890 land-grant institutions and school based agricultural education. Phenomenology was the methodology used in order to compare and contrast gatekeeper experiences in order to determine the 1890's influence on school based agricultural education. Results showed that all gatekeepers experienced how the 1890s affected the past, present, and future status of diversity in school based agricultural education. Results also showed that 1890s can influence the lack of diversity in school based agricultural education. Keywords: 1890 land-grant institutions, agricultural education, diversity, phenomenology
