Abstract

This thesis report deals with the resource allocation problem for the multiple tasks given by multiple users in a wireless sensor network. While new technologies are making sensors smarter, smaller, and cheaper, it is still a challenge to allocate limited energy, radio bandwidth, and other resources for achieving efficient global behavior. Since centralized resource allocation approaches are computation and communication intensive and completely decentralized approaches do not achieve a satisfied solution, this research designed and developed a cluster-based distributed resource allocation and management system using market approach. The systems engineering approach was followed for the design and development. Simulations show that the system successfully allocates the resources in a sensor network for multiple tasks received from multiple users and achieve high network performance and long network lifetime with the required quality of service (Qos). The detailed software development and simulation results of the Resource Allocation System for Multi-tasks and Multi-Users software is presented in this thesis report.
