Genae Marie Franklin, Tennessee State University

Abstract

Music education has always thrived upon advocacy. Advocacy has been the vehicle used to inform and involve any person of interest and motivation in supporting music education, especially stakeholders. This study examines the history of music education, focusing on the major impetuses behind its advocacy in order to identify a common thread. That common thread should reveal what concept or methodology has better sustained and supported the continued growth and progress of music education advocacy. The research will identify these factors, and their contribution to the progress of music education in curriculum, society and legislation.
