Synthesis and Characterization of Zinc Complex with 1,3-Bis(diphenylphosphinomethyl)benzene
Abstract
Pincer complexes of transition metals are valuable for their catalytic and other functional properties. Much is known about pincer complexes of transition metals. However, such is not the case for the pincer chemistry of nonprecious 3d metals. This chemistry is poised for rapid growth over the next decade. This project will present the results of the synthesis and structural characterization of zinc (II) and 1,3 bis(diphenylphosphinomethyl)benzene. Techniques such as Infrared spectroscopy, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance spectroscopy and single crystal X-ray diffraction were used for structural characterization.
